Velkommen til lanseringen av publikasjonen Anthology – Anatomical Theatre Boken er en fortsettende del av Petrine Vinjes prosjekt for Skulpturbiennalen 2013, der hun oppførte installasjonen Anatomisk Teater i Vigelandsparken med et assosiert program med forelesninger, performative verk og lesninger.

Anthology - Anatomical Theatre er en samling av fotografier og kunstverk, essays, artikler og dikt. Publikasjonen er en rikholdig utgivelse som med utgangspunkt i et historisk rom fra 1500-tallet, drøfter eksistensielle problemstillinger om forholdet mellom kropp og sjel både i historisk og samtidig perspektiv. 

Forholdet mellom teknologi, kropp, sinn og språket som omslutter disse forholdene, drøftes gjennom å tekster og kunstverk som tar for seg mennesket, eller snarere hva det betyr å være menneske. Den kartesianske dualismen, René Descartes avlagte, men dog stadig tilbakevendende teori, gir sjelen en status atskilt fra kroppen. Denne modellen for forståelsen av det menneskelige subjekt, og rommet som var åstedet for denne teorien, blir i boken benyttet som et konseptuelt rammeverk for å tenke kritisk om hvordan subjektet handler, tenker og definerer seg selv i nåtiden. 

Artikler og personlige skildringer om nevrobuddhisme, Ashtanga yoga, åndelig forvirring og kristne dogmer stiller spørsmål til hvordan det kontemplative møter det ekstroverte, og hvordan østlige tradisjoner omsettes i vesten, gjennom kapitalistisk orienterte globaliserte strømninger. Gjennom språket og kunsten, med det anatomiske teatret som en plattform, reflekterer prosjektet over vitenskapens utvikling og historien som legges til grunn for kollektive tanker om det fysiske og metafysiske – læren om tilværelsens grunner og prinsipper.

Publikasjonen Anthology – Anatomical Theatre er på engeks språk (med norske orginaltekster) og har essays, artikler og dikt skrevet av Martijn van Beek (førsteamanuensis i antropologi, CAS, IMC, Aarhus Universitet), Jens Erland Braarvig (professor, IKOS, Universitetet i Oslo), Liv Kristin Holmberg (kunstner og komponist, Berlin), Bruno Laeng (professor i kognitiv nevropsykologi, Universitetet i Oslo), Lars J. Langøien (førsteamanuensis, Norges Idrettshøyskole), Tom Slevin (Ph.D., Senior Lecturer, Southampton Solent University), Espen Stueland (forfatter), Aina Villanger (forfatter), Hanne Ørstavik (forfatter). 

I tillegg til en rikholdig presentasjon av fotografier og tegninger av Petrine Vinje samt dokumentasjon av installasjonen Anatomisk teater (2013) og et intervju av Vinje gjort av Helga Marie Nordby (freelance kurator, Berlin/ Oslo).

Anthology - Anatomical Theatre is a selection of photography and artwork, essays, papers and poems. They are all part of a series of lectures, performances and readings related to the installation of, and programme of events for, Anatomical Theatre by Petrine Vinje.

Welcome to the launch of the publication Anthology - Anatomical Theater. The book is a continuing part of Petrine Vinje's project for the Norwegian Sculpture Biennale in 2013, where she raised the Anatomical Theater in the Vigeland Park, Oslo, with an associated program consisting of lectures, performative works and readings.

Anthology - Anatomical Theater is a compilation of photographs and works of art, essays, articles and poems. The publication is a rich volume that aims to discuss existential issues on the relationship between Body and Mind, both in historical and contemporary perspectives, using the historical room from the 16th century as a platform.

The relationship between technologny, body, mind and the language surrounding these conditions are discussed through texts and artwork that looks upon the human subject, or rather what it means to be human. The Cartesian Dualism, René Descartes obsolete but still recurring theory where the mind has its placement and status separate from the body. This model of understanding the human subject, and the space that was the very birthplace of this theory, is used in the book as a conceptual framework to criticize the subject acting, thinking and defining itself in the present.

Articles as well as personal stories on Neuro-Buddhism, Ashtanga yoga, spiritual confusion and Christian dogmas raises questions on how the contemplative life meets the extrovert, and how Eastern traditions are transmitted to the West through capitalist-oriented and globalized currents.
Through language and art, with the anatomical theater as a platform, the project reflects on the development and history of science, which underlies collective thoughts about the physical and metaphysical teaching of the reasons and principles of existence.

Langøien,( Associate Professor, Norwegian School of Sport Sciences), Tom Slevin (Ph.D., Senior Lecturer, Southampton Solent University), Espen Stueland (author), Aina Villanger (author), Hanne Ørstavik (author).

The book comes with a rich presentation of photographs and drawings by Petrine Vinje as well as documentation of the installation Anatomical Theater (2013) and Q&A between Vinje and Helga-Marie Nordby (freelance curator, Berlin/Oslo).
